Terms of service

1. Provider and scope

Roastgaard is operated by [TO FILL: name or company name], [TO FILL: street], [TO FILL: postcode] [TO FILL: city], Austria (see Imprint). These terms apply to all use of roastgaard.com.

2. What Roastgaard is and isn't

Roastgaard gives students AI-assisted feedback on their own academic writing: it shows what examiners are likely to criticise and explains how to fix it. The only edits Roastgaard makes itself are small ones (grammar, wording, citation format), offered as tracked changes you accept or reject.

Roastgaard does not write papers or content for anyone (no ghostwriting as defined by the Austrian Universities Act). The score is an assessment, not a grade prediction and not a guarantee; your grade is given by your university alone.

3. Your obligations

  • You only upload texts you wrote yourself or have the necessary rights to.
  • You do not use Roastgaard to produce or sell papers for others.
  • You follow your university's rules, for example on declaring AI tools you used.
  • You are responsible for which suggestions you adopt in your work.

4. Account

The full service needs a free account. You must be at least [TO FILL: minimum age, e.g. 16] years old. You can have your account deleted at any time by email. We may suspend an account for serious breaches of section 3.

5. Snacks, packs and prices

Services are paid for with "snacks". A new account gets a free starting balance. More snacks come as packs, plus the 7-day "Unlimited" pass. Every purchase is a one-off payment with no subscription and no automatic renewal. Purchased snacks never expire. Current prices are on the pricing page and are final prices [TO CHECK: incl. VAT, or small-business exemption notice]. Payment is handled by our payment provider Mollie. Unused snacks when an account is deleted: [TO FILL: forfeited / refunded].

Snacks are only deducted once a review has been delivered successfully. If a review fails, nothing is deducted.

6. Right of withdrawal

As a consumer you can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of the contract without giving a reason. Send a clear statement to hello@roastgaard.com, for example: "I hereby withdraw from my purchase of [pack] on [date]. Account email: [address]." We then refund you within 14 days using the same payment method.

Early expiry: snacks and the Unlimited pass are digital content credited immediately. At checkout you expressly agree that delivery starts before the withdrawal period ends and acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (Austrian Distance Selling Act, FAGG 18(1)(11)). The right of withdrawal expires once they are credited. As a goodwill gesture we refund unused packs [TO FILL: goodwill rule, e.g. within 14 days if no snack was used].

7. Availability and liability

We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee it. AI feedback can contain mistakes; check every point yourself. We are fully liable for intent, gross negligence and personal injury. For slight negligence we are not liable, to the extent the law allows. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

8. Your content

Your work stays yours. You grant us only the rights we need to store and review it. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.

9. Changes, law, jurisdiction

If we change these terms we tell you by email in advance; packs already paid for keep the terms from the time of purchase. Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Place of jurisdiction for businesses: [TO FILL: competent court at the registered seat].
